Senate Confirms Heather MacDougall as OSHRC Member

The U.S. Senate on March 12 confirmed labor attorney Heather MacDougall as the third and final member of the Occupational Safety and Health Review Commission.

The U.S. Senate on March 12 confirmed labor attorney Heather MacDougall as the third and final member of the Occupational Safety and Health Review Commission.

MacDougall, who works in Akerman LLP’s Labor and Employment Practice Group in West Palm Beach, Fla., served as chief legal counsel and special advisor to the chairman of the commission from 2002 to 2003.

At Akerman, MacDougall “counsels and represents companies in OSHA inspections and citations, traditional labor relations and [Equal Employment Opportunity] discrimination charges and litigation,” according to her bio. She received a B.A. from the University of Wisconsin and a J.D. from Marquette University Law School.

The Occupational Safety and Health Review Commission is an independent federal agency that rules on contested citations or penalties resulting from OSHA inspections. President Obama nominated MacDougall to the commission on Nov. 21.
