Superior Forge & Steel and EPA Reach Settlement

EPA alleges the reporting violations occurred at New Castle plant in 2010 and 2011, and Pittsburgh in 2011 Superior Forge cited for violating the Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know Act (EPCRA) Allegedly Superior Forge did not submit timely annual reports for chromium and lead when the company processed those toxic chemicals in amounts exceeding EPCRA reportable quantities (25,000 lbs. for chromium, 100 lb. for lead)

A gap in reporting data to EPA triggered an inspection of  Superior Forge & Steel facilities in Pennsylvania.  The agency determined that reporting violations occurred at the company's New Castle plant in 2010 and 2011, and at its Pittsburgh facility in 2011. Superior Forge & Steel and the EPA reached a settlement, with Superior Forge admitting no liability.
