Each year, an average of 80 tree care workers suffer a fatal work-related injury, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).&
A CDC study found that fall deaths, electrocution and struck-by accidents were the most common causes of worker deaths related to tree care operations.
The state-run Maryland Occupational Safety and Health (MOSH) recently kicked off a safety awareness campaign to reduce the number of injuries caused by tree trimming and removal hazards. In addition to free seminars, publications and speakers, the agency released a bulletin with safety tips.
The bulletin can be downloaded at the MOSH web site. To view the tips and recommendations, click through the slideshow.
