And the Winner Is… The Board of Certified Safety Professionals Offers an Awards Program

Jan. 20, 2012
If you or a colleague holds certification as a CSP, OHST, CLCS and/or CHST, the Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP) would like you to consider entering the first annual Award of Excellence program. Top certificants representing the CSP, OHST, CLCS or CHST certifications will be recognized for their outstanding leadership, knowledgeable expertise in their profession and voluntary commitment to advancing the EHS field of practice.

The awards ceremony will take place on June 6 at a lunch held in conjunction with the ASSE Safety 2012 Professional Development Conference in Denver. All award winners will receive their award medallions and long-time certificants will receive recognition with distinctively designed CSP pins.

"This new awards program is just one way that BCSP is acknowledging those individuals that have made a difference in the safety profession and continue to do so every day,” said Carl Heinlein, who is president of the board of directors for BCSP. “BCSP is currently accepting nominations and the March 31, deadline is quickly approaching for this year's submissions."

Applications can be either self-nominated or by peers. All nominating documents and details can be found on the BCSP Web site. The individuals selected will have met specific certification criteria as well as showing a continued commitment to the SH&E field.

The Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP) is recognized as the leader in high-quality credentialing for safety, health, and environmental practitioners. BCSP establishes standards for and verifies competency in professional safety practice and evaluates certificants for compliance with recertification requirements. BCSP also operates paraprofessional SH&E certifications that provide additional career paths for safety practitioners.

Since 1969, over 30,000 individuals have achieved the CSP, OHST, CHST or STS credential. Currently, over 12,000 hold the CSP and 7,500 retain a paraprofessional credential.
