Leadership Changes on Hand at SHOWA

Jan. 7, 2015
Shuji Kondo will replace Bill Alico as SHOWA Americas president and COO.

Glove manufacturer SHOWA is putting the lead of its U.S. operations in new hands.

The Japan-based company has selected Shuji Kondo to replace Bill Alico as Americas president and COO.

Kondo has 20 years experience at SHOWA, where he has held leadership roles in Japan, Europe and the U.S.

Alico said it's the right time to support the "next generation of visionary leaders."

Alico, who will serve as a member of SHOWA's board of directors and as a strategic advisor to the company, has more than 30 years of experience in industry.

"Kondo's vast experience will help us to facilitate regional connectivity and strengthen our position as a global powerhouse in hand protection," he said.

"SHOWA Americas is an integral part of our global brand, driving innovation, sustainability and customer-focused development in hand protection," Kondo said in a statement.

SHOWA also named Charles Miller, who previously served as the Americas central regional manager, its new Americas vice president of sales and marketing. He succeeds Tom Eggleston, who will join the company's board.

SHOWA Americas was formed in 2007 when then Showa Glove Japan acquired Best Manufacturing. SHOWA, which in 2014 changed its corporate name from Showa Glove, operates eight productions facilities globally and has 4,500 employees.
