It’s A Baby Boomer’s Workforce: Why We Need More Ergonomic Workplaces [Infographic]
The workforce is filled with Baby Boomers (aka, aging workers). In fact, a recent report revealed that the number of older working women significantly has risen in recent years, with the Labor Department estimating that one in five women will be working past the age of 65 by 2024 (compared to one in 12 in 1992).
This shift undoubtedly will impact the health of an aging working population as well as workforce dynamics.
This infographic created by Ohio University’s Online Masters of Engineering Management program explores how the aging baby boomer generation has further increased the need for the implementation of ergonomics within the workplace.
The graphic explains how introducing such practices significantly can benefit a company’s bottom line through increased productivity and reduced healthcare costs.
Some $227 billion of employer health costs are due to lost productivity from illness or injuries that prevent employees from performing at full capacity, a cost that can be saved through the use of ergonomic applications in the workplace.
