6 Ways to Keep Package Delivery Workers Safe and Healthy

April 14, 2020
OSHA issues new alert aimed at COVID-19 prevention.

Package delivery workers have recently expressed concerns to the media about their level of exposure to COVID-19.

Deliveries of essential supplies have skyrocketed amid the pandemic, causing employees to work long hours and significantly increase their route stops.

FedEx Ground drivers say they have not received additional sick leave as enacted by other carriers. UPS employees spoke anonymously about the lack of proactive measures the carrier has taken.

OSHA's latest bulletin around worker safety during the COVID-19 pandemic provides recommendations to protect package delivery workers from exposure.

The agency previously has published mask guidance as well as recordkeeping procedures for workers who contract the novel coronavirus. Guidance has been released on a regular basis and is available on OSHA's website.
