Under the alliance, OSHA and WGI will provide information and guidance to help engineering and construction employers provide safe and healthful working environments; reach out to contractors who may benefit from mentoring or guidance in developing, implementing or improving safety and health programs and provide them access to safety and health information and resources; and encourage contractors to incorporate a proactive safety and health culture into their day-to-day operations.
They will also work together to provide and share information on WGI's best practices and effective approaches to accident prevention with OSHA personnel, industry safety and health practitioners and engineering and construction contractors. Further, they will promote and encourage WGI participation in OSHA's cooperative programs such as compliance assistance, Voluntary Protection Programs and SHARP, and share WGI's construction and engineering best practices with others in the industry.
The one-year renewable agreement was signed by Brenda Gordon, OSHA's Braintree area director; Richard Fazzio, OSHA's Methuen area director; and Bradley D. Giles, WGI's corporate vice president for environmental safety and health.
WGI, headquartered in Boise, Idaho, was formed in July 2000 and has approximately 38,000 employees. The company provides engineering, construction and program management services.
