OSHA is accepting nominations for people to serve on the Advisory Committee on Construction Safety and Health (ACCSH).

OSHA made the announcement in the Jan. 24 Federal Register.

Established under section 7 of the Occupational Safety and health Act of 1970 and section 107 of the Contract Work Hours and Safety Standards Act, the committee's role is to advise the OSHA administrator on occupational safety and health standards and policy affecting the construction industry.

According to the agency, nominations will be accepted for eight vacancies on the 15-member committee in the following categories:

  • Construction employer representative;
  • Construction employee representative;
  • State safety and health agencies representative; and
  • Safety and health experts (two).

Each of the members will serve a staggered 2-year term. Any interested person or organization may nominate one or more qualified people for membership.

Nominees should be identified by name, place of birth, occupation or position, address and telephone number. The category that the candidate would represent should be specified and a resume of the nominee's background, experience and qualifications should be included.

Nominations must be submitted no later than 30 days after publication in the Federal Register and should be submitted to Michael Buchet, Directorate of Construction-Office of Construction Services, Room N3468, U.S. Department of Labor, 200 Constitution Ave. NW, Washington, D.C. 20210. The phone number is (202) 693-2020.

Nominations also are accepted electronically (see the Federal Register for instructions), by fax, messenger or courier service. All nominations for ACCSH must include the agency name and docket number for the Federal Register notice (Docket No. ACCSH 2007-1). More information can be found at http://www.regulations.gov.
