Penton Media's Occupational Hazards, the award-winning 70-year-old publication serving the occupational safety and health market, is being rebranded in November as EHS Today. The publication also launched a completely redesigned Web site, http://www.EHSToday.com, which provides comprehensive coverage of environment, health and safety topics.

“While we have all been immensely proud of Occupational Hazards, the changes going on in the safety and health field convinced us it was time to refocus this publication,” said Steve Minter, publisher and editorial director. “Yesterday’s safety manager is today often a generalist charged with responsibilities including safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene, environmental compliance and sustainability. These readers need a contemporary publication that addresses the myriad issues they deal with in a timely, authoritative manner.”

Along with its expanded editorial mission, EHS Today will have the largest circulation of any publication in this field – 86,100 subscribers. Included in this figure are more than 14,000 subscribers to the digital issue, serving readers’ desire for a green, portable publication that they can access from their desktop.

“EHS Today was created for the EHS manager of the 21st century – one who can’t be satisfied with an information silo but needs a comprehensive source of news and knowledge that is easily accessible in print or online,” said Sandy Smith, chief editor of EHS Today. “EHS Today builds on Occupational Hazards’ 70-year tradition of editorial excellence, but redefines the mission to serve today’s multi-tasking, technologically savvy reader operating in a global economy. It’s a ‘clean sheet’ magazine built on more than seven decades of intimate experience with the EHS profession.”

EHS Today will continue its industry-leading coverage of occupational safety that netted Occupational Hazards four national and one regional editorial and design awards in 2008. In addition, the magazine is expanding its reporting on occupational health, environmental compliance and sustainability, and workers’ compensation.

The completely redesigned Web site provides a community-oriented platform optimized for search and built around major EHS topic areas. Within each area, readers can find news, articles, white papers and exclusive topic-related advertising. The http://www.EHSToday.com site includes an updated product directory, advertiser Storefronts, and areas for video, podcasts and Webcasts. Advertisers can use this wide range of media options to reach all facets of the EHS market cost-effectively.

“EHS Today and its new Website reflects our commitment to be the leader in print and e-media for this important market,” said John DiPaola, vice president and group publisher for EHS Today. “We’re looking forward to 70 more years of success with this new brand.”

Penton Media, Inc. is the largest independent business-to-business media company in the U.S., serving more than six million business professionals every month. The company's market-leading brands are focused on 30 industries and include 113 trade magazines, 145 Web sites, 150 industry trade shows and conferences, and more than 500 information data products.
