In an unprecedented joint partnership, the leadership of the American Industrial Hygiene Association (AIHA) and the American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE), are coming together to better serve their members.
Both associations took part in a joint board meeting in October 1999 were they agreed that board liaisons from both groups would attend each of their board meetings.
At the ASSE conference, an announcement was made about both groups signing a memorandum of agreement to engage in unprecedented joint planning efforts in the future.
ASSE and AIHA have come up with a "shopping list" of possible joint efforts, including:
- a leadership training conference,
- ANSI Z-10,
- products, services and staff, and
- research foundation cooperation.
"This cooperative effort just beginning will encourage better associations, with better products and services that will result in better safety," said Steven Levine, AIHA president.
