June Brothers, CSP, of Atlanta has been voted chairperson of the board of directors for the Voluntary Protection Programs Participants' Association (VPPPA). The election was Sept. 16 during the association's 15th annual national conference in Washington, D.C.
An active member of VPPPA for six years, Brothers has served as director-at-large for the association for four of those years. As an active member of the VPPPA board, she was the first to secure a private foundation to support safety training for association members.
"I am dedicated to preserving the integrity of VPP as the best way to achieve worker safety the cause to which I have dedicated my life," she said.
At Georgia-Pacific, one of the safest companies in the forest products industry, Brothers has been a mill-level safety supervisor on the corporate safety staff and leads safety for 20,000 employees in 130 building products manufacturing plants in the United States and Canada.
Before joining Georgia-Pacific in 1988, June spent 13 years with Oregon OSHA as safety compliance officer and in charge of the statewide enforcement program.
