OSHA Renews Corporate VPP Membership for Parsons Corp.

Feb. 17, 2017
Parsons Corp. is one of five companies in the nation to achieve membership in OSHA's corporate program.
Parsons Corp. has been re-approved for membership in OSHA’s Corporate Voluntary Protection Program.

The Pasadena, Calif.-based engineering services firm is one of only five companies in the United States to participate along with Jacobs Engineering Group Inc., Morton Salt Corp., Delta Air Lines and General Electric Co.

“Parsons is the longest-standing OSHA Corporate VPP participant in our industry, and our re-approval is a testament to the hard work and commitment of our line employees, project managers and executive leadership team,” said Brad Barber, vice president of corporate safety, health & environment, in a statement. “Everyone collectively played a part in this achievement, including each of our business groups through their exemplary projects.”

Members of OSHA’s corporate VPP program must have a comprehensive, organization-wide safety and health management system and maintain below-industry averages for injury and illness rates.

OSHA’s evaluation for participation included a review of corporate safety and health policies and procedures covering the following VPP key points:

• Management Leadership, and Employee Involvement
• Worksite Analysis
• Hazard Prevention and Control
• Safety and Health Training

Companies interested in the designation must have “effective internal pre-screening processes to evaluate their facilities’ level of preparedness to participate in VPP,” according to agency guidelines.

In addition to membership in the agency’s corporate program, 23 of Parson Corp.’s sites have achieved VPP Star status including a 12th Star site for the New Jersey Motor Vehicle Inspection System (NJMVIS) program.

Through the NJMVIS program, Parsons is responsible for inspecting more than 2 million vehicles annually and for maintaining 124 inspection lanes at 26 state-owned inspection facilities, according to the company.

Parson Corp. currently manages projects in more than 27 different countries.
