Salvatore Longo, owner and CEO of Frankfort, NY-based Northern Safety, recently announced that National Baseball Hall of Famer Cal Ripken Jr. is the new spokesman for the company. Ripken played Major League Baseball for the Baltimore Orioles for 21 years.
“The safety message is the most important message in the workplace,” said Ripkin. “You can’t work if you’re on the DL.”
During his career, Ripken played 2,632 consecutive games, breaking the record Lou Gehrig held for 56 years. His dedication and perseverance earned him the nickname “Iron Man.”
Ripken said he is excited to be a part of the Northern Safety team, adding, “Their commitment to worker safety is admirable and if I can play a role in helping them grow and spread their message of safety I am thrilled to do it.”
Northern Safety and Ripken have developed a Cal Ripken Jr. Signature Series line of products, including safety eyewear and gloves. In addition to the newly developed product lines, Ripken will deliver video safety tips for the company. The monthly videos will give tips on how to increase safety awareness and compliance in the workplace.
