These new publications were developed and reviewed by experts who consider the practitioner’s need for practical and timely information, AIHA said.

The new guidelines include:

“Guideline for Implementing an Integrated Health, Safety, and Wellness Program for Small Businesses,” by William H. Bullock. This publication provides a business case for implementing an integrated health, safety, and wellness program to improve workers’ overall health and to lower workplace injury and illness incident rates.

“Guideline on Occupational Exposure Reconstruction,” edited by Susan Marie Viet, Mark Stenzel, Christopher P. Rennix, Thomas W. Armstrong and James R. Couch. This new guideline presents current good practices in the development of efficient yet thorough procedures for any exposure reconstruction project. Its focus is on the industrial hygienist’s role and integration with other contributors on exposure reconstruction projects and addresses alternative approaches, data source considerations, exposure metrics, quality assurance and appropriate documentation for possible retrospective exposure data needs.

“Storage Rack Safety Guideline,” edited by Lorraine Sedlak: This document provides guidance on the design, installation, maintenance, and safe operating practices for rack storage areas. Safety considerations in the design of product and material racking systems and warehouse facilities are reviewed and include aspects related to the material handling process. It also summarizes facility, structural (floor load capacity) and operational (layout, aisle widths, area lighting, material handling equipment) concerns.
